After being premiered in Paris in 2011, the exhibition Trans Egeria will be deployed for the first time in North America this summer in different cities across Quebec. This exhibition, created by the curator Frederic Fontan at Reflexgallery in Paris and adapted by the ATQ and Frédéric Fontan for Quebec context, pays homage to several prominent trans people that marked the international history. Mirror acrylic digital prints will highlight these trans muses, performers and artists. Trans Egeria project aims to demystify the realities of trans people by presenting muses that have become positive role models and a source of inspiration through their personal and community struggles.

The paragons for Quebec will include, Marie-Marcelle Godbout, founder of Aide aux transsexuels et transsexuelles du Québec (ATQ), Michelle Blanc, top person of e-business in Quebec and Alexis Comte involved in demystifying the realities of trans men.

This exhibition is made possible thanks to the ATQ (Aid to Transsexual of Quebec) in partnership with the Fondation Emergence and with support from the Ministry of Justice – Quebec Policy against homophobia.

Trans Egeria will be presented in Montreal from May 9 to 12, 2012 at the gallery Nowhere,1269 Amherst Street. It will move to Quebec City during the Altern’Art festival from May 17 to 20, 2012 at Studio P,280 St. Joseph Street East. The exhibition will be deployed back in Montreal from August 16 to 19,2012, inconnection with the events of the “Montreal Pride” under the marquee of Fondation Emergence.
